WhatsApp Latest Feature Leaked Called Suspicious Link Detection

There is doubt that WhatsApp is the most used messaging application in India. You and I, we daily use it several times in a day. WhatsApp serves over 200 million monthly active users.

Recently WhatsApp was under the analysis of Indian government. Indian government called up WhatsApp for not doing enough to tackle the fake news problem that has, incidentally, led to at least 27 deaths in India .

In respond to that WhatsApp says that the false news, misinformation and the spread of hoaxes are issues best tackled collectively: by government, civil society and technology companies working together. In order to make WhatsApp more secure and to stop the menace of fake news and false information spread through its platform WhatsApp is testing a new feature.

This new feature is called ‘Suspicious Link Detection’. It identifies the suspicious links (both sent and received) within the messaging application. It help its users to know whether the website links which they are receiving are from legitimate sources or not.

If WhatsApp find a link suspicious, a ‘Suspicious Link’ flag will pop up against the link. It will like a warning to the user that the link contains unusual characters, now it depend on your choice whether you wan to open the link or not. This new feature will be available in WhatsApp’s next updated version.

Major aim of WhatsApp behind introducing this tool to make the app safer and to stop it becoming a tool of anti-social elements.

This feature was spotted on WhatsApp beta version 2.18.206 of Android, but WABetaInfo reports WhatsApp has been working on this feature since version 2.18.204. However we haven’t see this feature while using aforementioned beta versions of WhatsApp, but WABetaInfo said that his feature is still in testing phase and it will soon launch in India.

Suspicious Link Detection is not the only feature on which WhatsApp is working to tackle the issues of spreading of fake news and false information, the company has also been working on a feature that labels forwarded messages.

Officially there’s been no word from WhatsApp on when we could see this feature being made and we don’t know when it will be rolled out to all the users.

Will this new feature can bring some change, let me know me know in comment box.
