Samsung Introduces Unbreakable Display Panel, Seemingly Better Than Gorilla Glass 6

We all know what Samsung can do when it comes to glasses. There display technology including OLED (organic light-emitting diode) and AMOLED (active-matrix organic light-emitting diode) are almost breath taking. The contrast and color denseness they offers on the screens of smartwatches, mobile devices, laptops, and televisions are really a magical experience.

Taking there creativity one step ahead, Samsung has introduce a new type of smartphone display panel. Samsung claims that this new smartphone display panel is to totally unbreakable. It is a 6.2-inch 1440×2960 panel with an all-plastic design showcased at the SID DisplayWeek in May this year. This 6.2-inch unbreakable display panel is made up of a flexible OLED screen. All plastic design make this panel far tougher, tougher than any other glass and OLED screens we see on most devices today.

Samsung representative stated that the new display is not only unbreakable but also has a hardness that is very similar to glass.

Samsung unbreakable display panel has gone through a series of durability tests in the U.S and come alive to home. It even survived a subsequent 1.8 meter or almost 6 feet drop test and operated as it should have without any damage.

This panel has survived 26 drop test from 1.8 meters above the ground. The panel also passed 71 degrees and low -32 degrees temperature tests and continued to function normally without any damage to its front, edges or sides. Compare it to the recently-announced Gorilla Glass 6 from Corning, Samsung’s unbreakable display panel appears to be the better option. Gorilla Glass 6 is a big improvement over its predecessor but the company’s claim puts its durability at surviving 15 drops from a height of 1 meter or 3.2 feet.

Samsung’s display affiliate has also announced that this unbreakable display panel has now received a seal of approval from Underwriters Laboratories. Underwriters Laboratories is an official testing company for OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the U.S. Department of Labor. Samsung has huge ambitions with unbreakable display panel in the near future.

But all the tests in which this unbreakable display panel has survived are performed in laboratory, so it will be hurry to say whether it will give same results in everyday situations. Samsung’s unbreakable display panel is likely to be used for the company’s first foldable smartphone the Galaxy X that’s due next year. It is also expected that this display panel will be used by Samsung in educational environments, cars, and military situations.

The things has been cleared that Samsung has successfully build a unbreakable display panel, but company hasn’t offered any information on when it will go into production, or when it will be used on a device we can own. Chances are that the South Korean giant will use this unbreakable display panel in there upcoming devises including Galaxy S10 and can soon start replacing the Gorilla Glasses from there recent devises including Galaxy S9.

More that five billion devices globally contain Gorilla Glass. It will be interesting to see how this Samsung’s unbreakable display panel change the market and consumer devises.

Have a great day, Enjoy !
