Cameras are something that allow us to pause the time. It give us the opportunity to relive those old sweet moments. And in this camera segment on July 25 the Japanese camera manufacturer Nikon has release a press announcing that they are working on an full frame mirrorless camera which would also include the development of new NIKKOR lenses.
The company has also releases a teaser on there website to give a general prospective to audience about there work. This will be Nikon’s second line of mirrorless cameras.
Nikon also confirmed that they are also working on an F-Mount adaptor. This adaptor will let you use existing full-frame Nikon F-Mount DSLR lenses with the cameras, which will ultimately make the lenses and cameras slimmer and smaller.
This new mirrorless camera will have a much shorter flange back distance (the distance between the lens element and the sensor). Nikon said “The new mirrorless camera and Nikkor lenses that are in development will enable a new dimension in optical performance with the adoption of a new mount.”
“The mirrorless body will have a new lens mount rather than repurposing the existing F-mount on the company’s DSLRs. That means lenses that work natively with the new mount will have to be developed.” Nikon further added.
I don’t have much information to share with you about this Nikon’s new unnamed mirrorless camera, but my friend NikonRumors.com has many things to talk about.
According to report by NikonRumors.com, Nikon will launch two new mirrorless cameras in this lineup. One will be a 48-megapixel sensor and the other will be a 25-megapixel one. If we talk about there pricing then the camera with 48-megapixel sensor will cost around $4,000 which will be around Rs. 2.75 lakhs in India while the other one the 25-megapixel option might have a starting price tag of $2,500 which will roughly Rs. 1.72 lakhs in India.
The names of this two models has not resales yet, chases are Nikkon might call the high-end variant asand the cheaper variant as It also looks like the autofocus system will leap from 153 to about 430-450 AF points; hopefully, that means they won’t just be denser but that they’ll cover a wider area of the scene.
However, Nikon has yet to confirm the specs, date and price, or even shown an official image of it yet. More details will reportedly come on a dedicated website at a later date. So, for people who have been waiting for this camera from Nikon, you’ll have to wait just a little longer.
The announcement of Nikon’s new mirrorless camera has just comes after a days when company has discontinued Nikon 1 mirrorless camera lineup. Nikon 1 used a 13.2×8.8mm sensor with a crop factor of 2.7x. The problem is that you can’t really design a competitive mirrorless camera system around a legacy lens mount. And the result was Nikon 1 did not do very well. Nikon’s last mirrorless camera was the Nikon 1 J5, which where launched way back in 2015.
It will be interesting to see how Nikon make space for himself, when Sony is already ruling the mirrorless market with Sony Alpha A7 III and Sony Alpha A7R III. Companies like Fujifilm, Panasonic and Olympus has already have a good market share. In my opinion Nikon’s entry in this race is too late. If Nikon wants to win then they will have to create a camera that will offer enough value for existing users to switch, or for new customers to consider them over the more established players in this domain.
If you don’t know what are Mirrorless cameras is, then in easy way I can say that Mirrorless cameras, are the once which feature a single, removable lens and have a digital display instead of an optical viewfinder. They are much more portable, lightweight, and easy to use as compared to traditional DSLRs. A DSLR shows what the lens sees whereas a mirrorless camera shows what the image sensor is looking at. If you want to know more about Mirrorless cameras then there is a detail article written by Digitaltrends.com.
Have a great day, Enjoy !
