If we look back in history there are many big companies which get destroyed even having a big market share and the reason behind that was they do not adopt the change. Facebook also understand this thing and company do not want to lag in future. Facebook continuously devoting more resources for AI-focused chips development and efforts. In order to lead this effort and to design its own silicon chip Facebook has hired one of Google’s lead chip developers.

According to Bloomberg, the social media giant Facebook hired Google’s Shahriar Rabii earlier this month. This has been revealed by his Linkedin profile, which tells us that Rabii has been hired as a Vice President and head of silicon at Facebook. Tech companies are building there own chips and it is a red signal for smartphone chip makers like Intel Corp, MediaTek Inc and Qualcomm. Apple has creating its own custom processors for iOS devices from long time. Samsung too launch it’s many smartphone with it’s own processor called Exynos.

On March 25, 2014 Facebook-owned Oculus VR. Oculus VR products like Oculus Go virtual reality headset runs on processors made by Qualcomm. Just like Apple, Facebook wants to launch there future product with there own custom Facebook chips. Facebook’s working on AI-focused custom silicon has been the topic of rumors and reports over the past several months.
